ISWS Coursing Program
ISWS developed a lure coursing program, mirroring that of ASFA, so that the dogs could at least be recognized for their sighthound abilities through the use of artificial lure coursing until such time as Silken Windhounds are able to compete in AKC or ASFA coursing programs. The ISWS coursing program consisted of certifications of coursing instinct, further testing by running with other dogs similar to the AKC lure coursing program, and where possible and sponsoring clubs are amenable actual lure coursing competitions judged in rules that are parallel to ASFA rules.
Beginning December 1, 2009, Silken Windhounds may enter and compete in the American Sighthound Field Association (ASFA) lure coursing events through the Limited Stake.
While maintaining ASFA Limited Status, the ISWS (at ASFA's recommendation) continues to award titles for achievements and participation in lure coursing.Top Dog of the year is awarded by ASFA and a listing of the Top 20 Silken Windhounds may be found on ASFA's website.
